Mary Benally


SANDERS — Memorial services for Mary Stella Benally, 67, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, at the Light House Church. The Rev. Bill Overton will officiate.

Benally died Sept. 26, 2011, in Albuquerque. She was born Sept. 17, 1944, in Pine Springs, Ariz.
Benally was formerly employed at the Weigh Station, E&E Pawn Shop and most recently Turney’s Indian Goods as an accomplished silversmith.

Survivors include her sons Garry J. Benally, and Felix J. Benally, of Gallup, and Gerald J. Benally, of Albuquerque; sisters Betty Lou Dodge and Thelma Burnside, both of Sanders; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Light House Church.

Lawrence Chee

GALLUP — Services for Lawrence Chee, 34, will be announced at a later date.

Chee died in Anchorage, Alaska. He was born Oct. 22, 1976, in Gallup.

Donations in memory of Lawrence Chee will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Red Rock Chapter House. A family meeting will be at 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at the Breadsprings Chapter House.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Sammie Charlie

WHITEROCK — Services for Sammie Steven Charlie, 78, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2011, in White Rock. Alvin Dorsey will officiate. Burial will be in a family cemetery.

Charlie died Sept. 29, 2011, in Albuquerque. He was born April 17, 1933, in White Rock into the Folded Arms People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Charlie was employed with the Environmental Health Services at Crownpoint IHS and served in the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include his sons Tico Charlee Sr., Byron Dean Charlee; daughters LuVenia Dickerson, Lucereta Dorsey, Serena S. Charlee; parents Skine Charles and Mary Charlie; brothers Danny Charlie and Jake Charlie; sister Inez Escitty; 28 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his wife Annie Charlie; stepson Edward Lee; brother Freddie Charlie and sister Elsie Jim.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Billie Sr., Alan S. Charlee, Darrell Charlee, Stewart Billie, Watson Billie Jr. and Shawn Charlee.

Rollie Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Nora James

BLACKHAT — Services for Nora W. James, 92, will be announced at a later date.

James died Sept. 29, 2011, in Fort Defiance. She was born May 11, 1919, in Fort Defiance.

A family gathering will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Tseyatoh Chapter House.
